Expressing Our Appreciation for Local Law Enforcement, EMA, and Fire Rescue

The brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to ensuring the safety of others deserve our utmost admiration and gratitude.

Today, on National First Responders Day, I hosted a Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, and Fire Rescue Appreciation Lunch in Grovetown in partnership with Columbia County. Especially following Hurricane Helene's devastating destruction, these selfless public servants continue to work around the clock to help our communities recover and rebuild. It was my honor and privilege to host today's lunch as a small token of appreciation for their hard work.

Recieving an Update from Laurens County EMA

Promoting Childhood Literacy in Dublin

While in Dublin, I also donated books from the Library of Congress' Surplus Books Program to Hillcrest Elementary School. It is essential we ensure children are reading by the third grade to set them up for success both in school and beyond. As a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, I am proud to do my part to support childhood literacy in the 12th District and nationwide.

Phase One of Renovations at the Bon Air are Nearly Complete

After working on this issue for many years, the first phase of renovations to the Bon Air Apartments in Augusta is nearly complete.

At a recent visit to the Bon Air, I received an update from representatives from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and was able to tour multiple renovated units. The progress being made is encouraging and phase two should begin in the coming weeks.

I will continue to exercise oversight as further improvements are made to ensure Bon Air residents have the quality living conditions they deserve.

Visiting Candler County Hospital

Despite the challenges facing rural health care, Candler County Hospital continues to focus on quality care for each and every patient.

I recently enjoyed touring the hospital to see firsthand the technology upgrades, improvements in infrastructure, and the dedicated staff who provide a quality patient experience.

Speaking at the CSRA Council on Aging's Legislative Breakfast

I provided an update on my work in Washington at the CSRA Council on Aging's Legislative Breakfast.

As seniors, and especially those on fixed incomes, continue to grapple with historic inflation caused by runaway government spending, I will continue to fight for solutions that strengthen our economy and lower the costs of prescription drugs and health care for not only our seniors, but for all Americans.
