John:
Has anyone ever tried to tell you that your vote doesn’t matter?
That politicians alone can save us from our problems?
That it doesn’t make a difference who’s in power?
None of this is true — and that’s why I just recorded a video for this final week of the campaign about why voting is a chess move, not a love letter.
Can you watch and share this video with anyone in your life who could still use a reminder of why it’s so important to vote for Kamala Harris and all of our candidates this year?

Here are the top five lies that I hear all the time about elections:
1. “The two party system is never going to change.” WRONG. The Working Families Party is building a viable and strategic third party — taking out corporate Democrats in primaries, electing our own candidates, and fighting to change the rules themselves.
2. “Politicians can save us from our problems!” WRONG. Elections aren't just about the candidates. They're about the conditions that we want to fight in over the next few decades. We have to play the long game.
3. “It doesn't matter who's in power.” WRONG. From New York to Colorado to New Mexico, WFP has organized after successful elections to raise wages, guarantee paid sick time and family leave, invest in quality public schools, and more.
4. “I only need to vote for President.” WRONG. School budgets, housing public transportation funding, and how well your streets are maintained are set by elected officials like state legislators and city council members.
5. “Voting for someone means I have to agree with them on every single thing.” WRONG. This is chess, not a love letter. Voting for someone doesn’t mean you are co-signing every single thing they've done or ever will do. It is a collective act — one tactic in a strategy.
We’re voting strategically for the best conditions to fight for the things we need for all of our people — things like healthcare for all, affordable education, and housing that doesn’t cost your entire paycheck.
If this sounds like a message that any of your friends or family members need to hear before November 5th, share this video with them on social, text it to them, or feel free to just forward this email to them.
With voting already underway in almost every state, we need to make sure we’re reaching every last person in our lives about the stakes of this election, and our plans beyond it.

Maurice Mitchell
