A Women's Place

John, I know it’s hard to believe but we are just one week out from the election and I’m sure you’re feeling the nerves — we are too.

I will never forget those last weeks of the election in 2016 and 2020 and just how crazy we were all feeling. Rightfully so. No one was expecting Trump to win in 2016 and he showed us the true horror of what can happen when we don’t work together and show up. In 2020, I remember being holed up during COVID and watching the election results for days — being woken up at 3AM to see Michigan, Pennsylvania, and others being called.

Before I became a Congresswoman, I would always feel helpless in those final moments. I didn’t like that feeling, and that’s why I ran for office and started A Woman’s Place — to take back my power and uplift the people and candidates around me. Today I’m giving YOU a way to take back your power too. In 2016, even though we knew the dangers Donald Trump posed, we still couldn’t imagine the despicable and anti-American actions that would follow. We had a fraud in office who packed the Supreme Court, completely shifted the GOP into extremism, refused to accept the results of the 2020 election, and failed this country for four straight years.

And we’re still living with those consequences to this day. Roe was overturned, women, immigrants, LGBTQ+ folks, and many others feel terrified, our public schools and our gun policies are failing our children, our democracy is under attack, and our freedoms are on the line.

That’s exactly why I started A Woman’s Place. If we don’t stand up and fight for our rights ourselves — then no one will. And with another close election at our doorstep, the time for action is here.
