Dear Georgian,

As I travel throughout our district, I am getting several questions about FEMA assistance. One particular question concerns when you applied and when your county was declared.

If you applied for FEMA disaster relief before your county was authorized for assistance, FEMA has stated that you do not need to reapply. Your application will automatically be reviewed once your county is declared.

Find your local Disaster Recovery Center here.

Visiting Minor Brothers Farms

Our farmers work hard to feed and clothe America, and it takes bipartisan work in Congress to support them.

I'm proud to chair the House Agriculture Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities, Risk Management, and Credit in Congress. My Democratic counterpart on the subcommittee, Rep. Shontel Brown, joined Rep. Sanford Bishop and me at Minor Brother Farms in Georgia last week.

This visit reaffirmed the need for a strong farm safety net and updated reference prices so that our farmers can continue to do what they do best.

National Hog Farmer | Bipartisan lawmakers demand urgent agricultural aid after Hurricane Helene

"Southern lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are urging Congress to swiftly approve federal disaster relief for farmers impacted by Hurricane Helene. The storm caused catastrophic agricultural losses across the Southeast. A bipartisan group of 34 representatives and senators, led by Senator Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) and Representative Austin Scott (R-Ga.), highlighted the urgent need for aid in a letter to Congressional leaders on Monday. The group stressed the importance of quick action to prevent long-term economic damage to the agricultural industry."
