Friend,

Have you heard about Dallas salon owner Shelley Luther?

She made headlines last week for her bravery in the face of this economic crisis. She defied orders to keep her salon closed – reopening for business with health and safety precautions in place – and refused to apologize for working to provide for her family.

On Tuesday, she was THROWN IN JAIL for daring to challenge Dallas County!

By Thursday she was freed. Texans rallied behind Shelley, and Governor Abbot issued a statewide order to eliminate jail time for violations of “stay-at-home" restrictions.

Now, barbers and salons in Texas are officially reopened. I dropped by to see Shelley on Friday, and got my first haircut in three months.

I applaud Shelley’s courage. Heavy-handed government dictates are NOT the solution to this public health crisis, and the data supports reopening our economy. Governor Abbott’s decision – prompted by Shelley’s case – means at least two other small business owners will not face jail time for getting back to work.

My family reached out to Shelley’s family as soon as we heard about her arrest. We joined them in prayer during her incarceration, and it was great to catch up with Shelley at her salon.

We've had enough of government picking winners and losers.

We can get America back to work while keeping each other safe.

If you agree, stand with our team in this fight. The D.C. Democrats are doubling down on their socialist agenda – we’re fighting for Texas, America, and FREEDOM. We can’t let up.

For Liberty,

Ted Cruz
