Arlington County is grappling with unprecedented commercial office vacancies, requiring innovative and forward-thinking solutions to navigate this shifting economic landscape. Adapting to the New Normal is designed to explore how Arlington can adapt to these new challenges and examine the policy choices that will strengthen the commercial real estate sector and therefore the overall community.

 

The event will feature an overview presentation by Ryan Touhill, Director of Arlington Economic Development, followed by a dynamic panel discussion featuring Kate Ange, Deputy Director of Arlington Economic Development; Bob Bushkoff, Vice President of Dittmar Company; Kevin Yam, Vice Chair of Arlington County Economic Development Commission. The panel will be moderated by Andrew Painter of Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley & Walsh, P.C.

The Government Affairs and Economic Development Committee will be discussing commercial real estate assessments. First, we welcome Derek Dubbé, Director of Real Estate Assessments for Arlington County. Derek will discuss trends in commercial real estate assessments and its financial effect on Arlington and take member questions. Then, the meeting will welcome Greg Hoffman of Rooney Properties, a member of Arlington County’s Board of Equalization for Real Estate Assessments. Greg will provide an overview of the Board of Equalization’s duties and its role in the real estate assessment process. He will also take questions from members.
