This month, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is ramming through the president’s federal judicial nominees, including Judge Justin Walker.

Despite receiving a “Not Qualified” rating from the American Bar Association, Walker was appointed to the second most powerful court in the land after less than a year as a lower court judge. It’s all part of McConnell’s plan to rush through young and conservative federal judges.

Not only has Walker been deemed unqualified to be a federal judge, he’s a major threat to the Affordable Care Act: He’s opposed our health care law every step of the way throughout his career. We can’t afford another judge on the D.C. Circuit Court who’s willing to repeal the ACA in the middle of a pandemic in which more than 70,000 Americans have died from COVID-19. Especially not in Mississippi, where we’re still fighting to expand Medicaid.

We ought to be clear about what Walker is: A hyper-partisan puppet of Mitch McConnell, who’s rushing to leave his lasting mark on our country’s judicial system for decades to come, no matter the cost.
