Hello John, it’s Sean Astin.
You may know me better as Mikey in The Goonies, Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the eponymous Rudy, or Bob in Stranger Things.
But what you probably don’t know is just how involved I’ve been in the fight to build the Democratic Party and make the country a better place for all of us when I’m not on set:
- Speaking at John Kerry campaign rallies in 2004
- Two presidential campaigns with Hillary Clinton
- Even managing a Democratic special election campaign in California’s 36th congressional district in 2011 (no, seriously)
I’ve had a bone-deep devotion to our country and the Constitution since well before Donald Trump traded the set of The Apprentice and Home Alone cameos for the national political scene.
We’ve faced some enormous tests in recent years, and there’s no one I’ve appreciated more for their effort to defend our democracy and build a better country for us all than Adam Schiff.
He’s tested. He’s proven. And he’s been delivering results for our California communities for years. And yes, when duty has called, Adam hasn’t shied back — he’s stood tall and inspired people by the millions in his fight during the Trump years to pull our democracy back from the brink.
That fight’s not over — not by a long shot. With California’s U.S. Senate election just 16 days away, he’s counting on our grassroots support to keep up the fight.
Adam is not taking a dime of corporate PAC money for his Senate campaign — he really does count on this team for the resources to compete in and win this race.
So to borrow a phrase from the wise, loving, indomitably-willed Samwise Gamgee: Will you help Adam share the load by chipping in $10 to his campaign today? With just 9 days left until the election, this truly is the most important time to lend your support.

Adam has earned our trust. And for sticking by his side, each and every one of us — Californians and Americans — have earned the right to elect a champion for all of us like Adam Schiff.
I hope you’ll join me by supporting his campaign today — thanks for reading.
