Friends, I get it: It can be hard to continue mustering the same shock and dismay at the things that just keep coming out about Donald Trump. It’s been going on for years.
But new reporting shows that Trump praised Hitler’s generals – “I need the kind of generals that Hitler had. People who were totally loyal to him, that follow orders.” It’s genuinely alarming in a way we need to talk about.
Trump has made it clear that he admires tyrants and dictators, in large part because they have militaries that are loyal to them personally – which it seems Trump would prefer over a military loyal to the U.S. Constitution.
He’s been very open about the fact that he wants that kind of unchecked power – “extreme power,” as he called it in one campaign event last week. He’s also been explicit about what he’d do with it:
He’d enact an economic plan that, according to dozens of Nobel Prize-winning economists, would raise prices, worsen inflation, and blow up the deficit.
He’d punish women who access basic reproductive health care, even when their doctors deem it medically necessary.
And of course, he’s said multiple times now that he would use the U.S. military to “take care of” the “enemy from within” – according to Trump, people like Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi.
This is not normal.
With a second term, Trump could do all of the above and so much more – unraveling the fabric of our basic institutions and eroding our democracy.
But in just 9 days, the American people have a say in whether he’s given that chance.
I’m not asking you for money in this email – I know that many of you already give whatever you can, whenever you can, to many campaigns and organizations. Instead, I’m just asking you to please, make sure you cast your ballot, and that your friends and family do the same.

We have the power to defeat Donald Trump. We have the power to elect Kamala Harris and see a strong, principled, compassionate leader in the White House. We just need to take that power and use it.
