John, leading the School Board Integrity Project is not just work for me, it’s deeply personal.

When I was in high school, I was one of the plaintiffs in a groundbreaking case discrimination lawsuit against Minnesota's largest school district over the discrimination that me and my LGBTQ classmates faced, with little support from the staff due to a "don't say gay" style policy.

It ended in a landmark settlement with the DOJ and DOE, forcing the District to finally take action to protect students like me from discrimination and allow them the freedom to learn.
