The battle over voting rights is a key front in the November
elections. Democrats believe that Congress and the states should
make it easier for every eligible voter to cast a ballot. But
while we believe in winning elections by addition, Republicans
want to win by subtraction -- and they are working overtime to
erect barriers to voting.

Their most recent plan is centered on blocking VOTE-BY-MAIL
options in the middle of this pandemic. In fact, on Thursday, the
Republican National Committee (RNC) announced they would spend
$20 million between now and the November election to prevent
vote-by-mail options in the battleground states.

The pandemic has raised the stakes of this critical battle and
we can't allow Trump to limit the ability of millions of
Americans to cast a ballot. We need to fight back hard. That
means pushing hard for a national right to vote-by-mail in
upcoming legislation, but also blocking Republican efforts to
stop states from implementing viable vote-by-mail options.

Last month, we saw a 5-4 Supreme Court vote along ideological
lines to force an unsafe in-person election in Wisconsin that
resulted in long lines and new COVID-19 cases.

The RNC's massive legal fund presents the latest hurdle to
Democratic efforts to expand vote-by-mail rules.

New legal battles are already underway in more than a dozen
states, including the key battlegrounds of Pennsylvania, North
Carolina, and Wisconsin. And the outcome of this fight could be
decisive in November.
