As Congress debates how to provide relief for those affected by COVID-19, I am calling for an Essential Workers Bill of Rights in the next relief package.

I am immensely grateful for the work being done by our selfless essential workers, and it is time they receive the protections they deserve. Too many essential workers are forced into high-risk work environments with insufficient personal protective equipment and lackluster safety standards. This is unacceptable.

I support the Essential Workers Bill of Rights because nobody should have to work without PPE or paid sick leave during this pandemic.

The Essential Workers Bill of Rights would ensure that the health and safety of essential workers is a top priority. It will ensure that their salaries reflect the level of sacrifice they are making and the hard work they are providing. It would support collective bargaining for workers, guarantee paid sick leave, protect whistleblowers who speak out against dangerous work environments, and so much more.

These folks workers are risking their lives for all of us, every day, and they deserve the protections laid out in the Essential Workers Bill of Rights.
