Email from We the People Convention Harris Campaign Implodes while Trump's Explodes!   TO CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF OUR NATION & YOUR LIFE - VOTE FOR EVERY REPUBLICAN ON YOUR BALLOT! Letter to the editor in the Portager October 18, 2024 Before you vote for sheriff… Jon Barber is running for sheriff. This man was fired by Portage County commissioners because he couldn’t lead and didn’t get along with others — per one of the commissioners that fired him. Per the Canton Repository: When contacted Wednesday evening, Portage County Commissioner Tommie Jo Marsilio said she no longer had confidence in Barber’s ability to lead. “Jon has some great attributes as a professional,” said Marsilio, a Republican. “The thing he’s the very best at is being a first responder and a helping person on an emergency scene; however, his leadership style is unique and does not invite cooperation, and I could see it was not going to get us where we needed to go.” She said the problem became obvious roughly a month after she took office in 2011. “I am looking for a leader who can work with anybody in the role of EMA director,” she said, listing the various safety departments that interact with the countywide office. “I don’t think Jon’s strong suit is to work and bring a cooperative attitude to those groups.” So the people of Portage County want to elect a man without the qualities necessary to successfully perform the sheriff job? If the guy can only be a good dog warden, do you think criminals are best managed by a dog warden? And do people not see that Bruce Zuchowski has done the job as sheriff, he has earned the loyalty and respect of his employees? Are voters so naive as to think that the rare resources of law enforcement will not jump ship to a ship that pays better in adjacent burbs? And employees will leave when a dog warden who was fired for poor leadership/ability to get along becomes a new boss? Our county is at great risk over this. No one will like the policing they receive by six months into a new regime that includes Barber. A vote for Barber would seem to be inviting misfortune to the county’s safety. Consider this as you place your vote for sheriff. Tracy Sober Rootstown Click Here to Download the Portage Slate Card! THEN VOTE EARLY IN PERSON OR BY ABSENTEE BALLOT!
