Friend — Sundays are always special in my household because of my mom. We usually spend the afternoon playing dominoes together. It's a simple but special Sunday tradition that has brought so much meaning to my life.

Well, this Sunday — today — just got a whole lot more meaningful. Today my mom and I are voting early, where we will cast our ballots to elect me as  Florida's next U.S. Senator and retire extremist Rick Scott for good. We'll also be joined by my husband, Robert, my sisters, and my kids. 🩷

With just 9 days left of this election, polls show me tied with Rick Scott and on the cusp of pulling off one of the greatest political upsets in history. I owe this moment, and just about everything in my life, to my mom.

You see, my mom, sisters, and I lived under a dictatorship in Ecuador. It was my mom who made the brave decision to move us to America, knowing that if she worked hard, then she could give her kids equal opportunity to succeed and build their own American dream.

She was right. But it wasn't easy. My mom had to start all over in a new country where she didn't know the language. She worked double shifts just to pay rent for a one room apartment while taking English lessons in the evening and on weekends. Despite the difficulties, my mom never wavered.

It's my mom's constant reassurance, work ethic, and firm belief in the American dream that inspired me to fight for a better life — and inspired me to run for U.S. Senate.

My mom's sacrifices enabled us to live out our own American dream. Now, it's both a privilege and joy to be my mom's caretaker, ensuring she can age with dignity and comfort. In fact, my ability to give my mom a good retirement is one of the things that I am most grateful for. It's not easy by any means, but I know all too well just how lucky my mom and I are.

These days, it's getting harder and harder for Americans to age with dignity and comfort. And yet my opponent, Rick Scott, wrote the plan that would end Medicare and Social Security. He's done nothing to improve the lives of Floridian seniors like my mom. Instead, he wants to cut valuable programs or privatize them.

Well, Rick Scott, and every other Republican who stands in the way of any American's good, stable retirement, have been given their notice. Today, my family and I are voting to retire Rick Scott for good.

But with just 9 days left to fight one of the most competitive and expensive Senate races in the nation, I'm up against $38 million in ads from Rick Scott as Floridians are voting and polls are tied. That's why I'm counting on your urgent support to power this grassroots campaign across the finish line to victory. So will you please chip in $5 or whatever you can to defeat Rick Scott?
