TELL CONGRESS: Trump is arguing that the Supreme Court’s extreme “absolute immunity” ruling protects him from accountability. But Congress can invalidate the Court’s dangerous, anti-democratic decision with landmark legislation. Sign the petition: Pass the No Kings Act!
Hi, Federal prosecutors continue to make the case that Trump should be tried for his involvement in efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. Trump is arguing that the Supreme Court’s extreme “absolute immunity” ruling protects him from accountability. But new evidence unsealed in Trump’s January 6 case1 is further proof that no one should be above the law in America. To make sure Trump is held accountable, Democrats put forward legislation called the No Kings Act to invalidate the “absolute immunity” ruling. The bill would assert that, despite the right-wing majority opinion on SCOTUS, presidents do NOT have immunity for criminal actions.2 Sign the petition: Urge Congress to pass the No Kings Act! Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said recently, “The Founders were explicit – no man in America shall be a king. Yet, in their disastrous decision, the Supreme Court threw out centuries of precedent and anointed Trump and subsequent presidents as kings above the law.”3 And that’s exactly why Leader Schumer introduced the No Kings Act — to override this dangerous SCOTUS ruling and protect American democracy. There is no end to the shocking revelations related to Trump and January 6. New evidence released just a few weeks ago included statements Trump made in the aftermath of the 2020 election like, “It doesn’t matter if you won or lost the election. You still have to fight like hell.”4 Congress can’t allow the right-wing majority on the Supreme Court to let Trump off the hook. Thanks for taking action, Sources:
