Big news, John.
I just filed the paperwork to run for Congress in WA-10. I will officially be on the primary ballot in August. This is a huge milestone, and I couldn’t have done it without your help.
If elected, I will be the first openly LGBTQ member of Congress from Washington State, and the first (across the country!) born in the 90’s. But I don’t want to just make history, I want to make a difference.
I’m running for Congress because we need to build on the progressive change I helped make for Washington state as one of Congressman Denny Heck’s top aides. We are in a use-it-or-lose-it moment for our democracy, and our country needs leaders with bold plans and honest messages -- leaders who can get things done through smart, strategic collaboration.
My campaign manager Spencer will be in touch soon about our pathway to victory, but to celebrate this milestone, I have an important request that I hope you can help us with:
Election season is officially underway the minute the candidate filing deadline closes on Friday. We set a goal of raising $10,000 before then to send a powerful message to ourselves, our supporters, and the other candidates in this race that we have strength and momentum. >> [link removed]
Now that I’m on the ballot, can I count on you to chip in $3 to help us meet this mark? This is so important. >>
All my best,
Phil

Phil Gardner served as the District Director for Congressman Rep. Denny Heck in Washington's 10th District. Now, he's running to replace Denny in order to continue fighting for the people of the South Sound and our shared progressive values. If elected, Phil would make history as Washington state’s first openly LGBT Member of Congress.
