Friend,

In recent days, two major U.S. newspapers — the Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post — announced they would withhold their presidential endorsements this year, even as an out-and-out fascist clamors to get back inside the White House.

Those moves were described as "cowardice" and "disturbing spinelessness." One critic called it "the 'anticipatory obedience' that scholars on tyranny warn us about."

Well, let's get this straight. When fascism is knocking on the door, Common Dreams does not open the door for it to walk right in.

Our journalism, first and foremost — and to our very last breath — will fight against the far-right forces that threaten democracy, human decency, our shared progressive values, and the planet itself.

If you believe this far-right threat is real and that courageous, independent journalism is needed more than ever — please donate to our crucial Fall Campaign. We don't have a cowardly billionaire owner to fund our operations (thank god) — all we have is good people like you.

We're not laying down. Like you, we're rising up to work harder than ever to defend everything we cherish. It's a world worth fighting for, and that's precisely what we plan to do. Please join us by supporting our work today.

With solidarity and gratitude,

Jon Queally
