Donald Trump issued an executive order that represents an unprecedented attack on science. By the end of the fiscal year, hundreds of scientific advisory committees including more than half of those at the Environmental Protection Agency will be dissolved.

This administration is actively censoring climate scientists, burying research that contradicts their talking points, and is now taking it a step further with this executive order.

Trump's executive order will affect Illinois families. Not only would it potentially shutter the Great Lakes advisory committee but it would also shutter countless committees that help organize thousands of policy experts, scientists, and research to drive federal decision-making and spending.

Tens of thousands of our jobs are supported by the Great Lakes, the renewable energy industry, and federal research grants, all of which are affected by this executive order.

It’s 2019 -- We shouldn’t have to fight for science, facts, and reality to have a place in our government.

But Trump is President and he's about to impair our government's ability to govern by silencing scientists and dismantling hundreds of scientific advisory committees in the coming months.
