Although much of the press attention on COVID-19 focuses appropriately on the health and employment impacts (both areas in which NCLEJ is actively involved), the virus has immediate and long term effects on other areas of importance. The two attached articles, one quoting NCLEJ Litigation Director Claudia Wilner and one co-authored by me, discuss the impact of unfair collection activities of the New York Transit Authority and the impact of COVID-19 on educational opportunities for communities of color and low-income families.
