Budzinski, Loyd square off in race for Illinois 13th Congressional District
— Fox 2 Now, October 14, 2024
[Budzinski] has [gotten] several big efforts [across] the finish line, including bringing back millions in infrastructure funding for the district. She worked with Republicans on some of those projects to secure the money. But she has run into partisan gridlock that has defined the past two years in congress. As a member of the house agriculture committee, the two parties haven’t been able to agree on a farm bill.
“What actually moved out of our House Agriculture Committee under Republican leadership, unfortunately, I felt like was a very deeply partisan bill that played geographic favorites, meaning that the farm bill that they moved out of committee actually, I believe disproportionately impacted southern commodities like cotton, rice, peanuts,” Budzinski “We don’t grow a lot of that in the Midwest. We grow corn and soybeans. I want a Farm Bill that’s equitable, that’s going to support our family farmers.”

Every day she goes to Washington, Nikki genuinely seeks collaborative solutions with her fellow Democrats and even reaches across the aisle when it matters. Real progress happens when common sense prevails, and cross-party cooperation isn't just a buzzword but a reality .

But this Farm Bill isn't that. The GOP pushed it through the House Agriculture Committee, and it sorely misses the mark for our communities. SNAP benefits are slashed, farmer safety nets are weakened, and essential climate protections are axed from conservation funds.

We need a Farm Bill that supports the Midwest — this one leaves us high and dry. It became a playground for partisan games, blatantly disregarding the real needs of millions.

Changing this means taking back the House majority and fortifying our Democratic presence in the House Agriculture Committee. Can you help us protect this vital seat? [[link removed]]
