If you make a promise, you better keep it. That was one of the most important
lessons my parents taught me when I was young. I don’t take promises lightly. I
meant it when I promised to protect critical Social Security and Medicare
benefits for seniors. As a combat veteran in Congress, I will do the right
thing and stand up for you.



I’ve kept my promise; the very first bill I introduced in Congress was the
Protecting Social Security and Medicare Act. I firmly believe that Social
Security and Medicare programs are not political bargaining chips for D.C.
politicians. You have worked hard for your benefits, and you deserve to keep
them. I made my promise almost two years ago, and I’m still keeping it today. I
want to reassure you that I will always fight for our seniors and ensure their
benefits are never infringed upon.
