If you know me, you know I don’t agree on much with Ron DeSantis.

But when I heard that DeSantis was using his gubernatorial powers to thwart the Florida abortion ballot initiative, I was furious.

Ron DeSantis sent police to intimidate voters. He published misinformation on government websites about the ballot initiative. And most recently, he threatened local TV stations that aired a ballot initiative ad, an explicit violation of our first amendment right to free speech!

Floridians Protecting Freedom, the organization leading the charge on the ballot initiative, had to file a lawsuit against DeSantis’ administration to get the sabotage to stop.

Ron DeSantis is an extremist willing to do anything to keep rights away from millions of his constituents. His actions are disgusting, anti-democratic, and a complete violation of the oath he took as Governor of Florida - I know, I took a similar one in Illinois.

The fact is we have to do everything in our power from now until Election Day to ensure that Floridians aren’t left without the basic rights and protections their MAGA governor is taking away.
