“There are no words to describe the situation in Kamal Adwan Hospital: It is disastrous,” said MSF orthopedic surgeon Dr. Mohammed Obeid, who sent us a message while sheltering and working there. “The hospital is completely overwhelmed. There are injured people everywhere, outside and inside the hospital, and we do not have medical and surgical equipment to treat them.”
Tens of thousands of Palestinians are trapped inside hospitals and residential areas as the Israeli army attacks northern Gaza. In recent days, Israeli forces have targeted the last remaining hospitals in the north, including Kamal Adwan, Indonesian, and Al-Awda hospitals.
Dr. Obeid is one of more than 800 MSF staff currently working in Gaza, including 778 Palestinian staff. MSF is urgently calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, an end to attacks on hospitals, and the evacuation of people in need of vital care.
