No, Prostitution is Not the Same as Being and Athlete or a Secretary

Many argue that prostitution is no different than other jobs in which people use their bodies to perform work duties (e.g. manual labor, professional athletes, or even jobs that simply use one’s hands, like being a secretary or a dish washer). This argument is both illogical and dangerous.

Claiming that prostitution is the same as any other job that uses one’s body erodes the difference between sex and other physical acts, between sexual body parts and other body parts.

By this logic, the concept of sexual violence is rendered virtually meaningless. Shaking someone’s hand without first asking permission is equivalent to rape. A dad tickling his child is equivalent to him sexually abusing his child. A boyfriend pressuring his girlfriend into sex is equivalent to him trying to persuade her to play basketball with him.

Read other reasons why this pro-prostitution argument falls short below.

A Tsunami of "Nudifying" Apps Advertised on Meta's Platforms

Picture this:

You’re the parent of a child and it’s their 13th birthday. All they want is an Instagram account, and they’re finally old enough. “All my friends have Instagram,” they say.

You’re hesitant, but they do meet Instagram’s age requirement, which is 13—and the Apple App Store rates Instagram for 12+. So, it should be okay.

To be extra sure they’re safe, you follow your child on Instagram to monitor their activity.

A few weeks later, as you’re scrolling through your Instagram feed to see what your child is up to, you see something that makes your heart stop: an advertisement for apps that use AI to create nude images of people.

You’re appalled that this type of advertisement exists at all … and how on Earth is it running on an app rated for 12 or 13-year-olds??

White Ribbon Against Pornography (WRAP) Week Starts Tomorrow!

“We care! We count!”

Thirty-four years ago, Norma Norris started a revolution for human dignity with those words.

In 1987, much like today, the world seemed determined to tell us that we were an obscure minority in a society that accepted and endorsed pornography and sexual exploitation.

While sitting in church listening to Pastor Msgr. Francis Glenn lament that the public was indifferent to pornography’s dissemination, including local prosecutors who thought nobody cared about the hardcore pornography being sold in their community, Norma had an epiphany.

Norma looked at the full pews in the church and said, “That can’t be; we’re here and we care!”

Thus began the founding of White Ribbon Against Pornography (WRAP) Week.
