The recent media propaganda storm surrounding former Chief of Staff John Kelly’s accusations against former President Trump has taken on a life of its own, with claims likening Trump to fascist dictators and questioning his integrity. Yet, beneath the surface lies a web of financial interests and murky affiliations, casting doubt on Kelly’s motives and objectivity. Kelly’s ethics record is troubling. In 2017, The Intercept reported that Kelly failed to disclose his position as vice-chair at the lobbying firm Spectrum Group, along with memberships on the boards of Michael Baker International and Sallyport Global, defense contractors working closely with the U.S. government. These omissions raise questions about his ties to the defense industry and his role in what many term “the swamp” of Washington’s military-industrial complex. His association with DC Capital Partners, a firm heavily invested in border-related services, only fuels these suspicions. Post-Trump administration, Kelly joined the board of Caliburn International, parent company of Comprehensive Health Services (CHS), which operates shelters for migrant children, including the Homestead facility. During the Biden-Harris administration, a dramatic rise in unaccompanied minors crossing the border led to skyrocketing profits for Caliburn. CHS, the only private, for-profit shelter operator in the country, secured significant government contracts, making tens of billions annually as the crisis deepened. Under Trump, border policies radically reduced the number of unaccompanied minors. However, after Biden and Harris took office, these numbers swelled, with CHS reportedly managing thousands of migrant minors. Observers have begun to question whether the alignment between rising migrant numbers and increased CHS profits suggests deeper connections or coordination. While the full extent of the implications remains unclear, the media’s rush to amplify Kelly’s accusations serves his interests more than the these poor orphans. Ultimately, this episode underlines the need for transparency, especially when former officials with vested interests make public statements that may skew the truth. CHS’s reported revenue for shelter operations skyrocketed from over $210 million in 2018 to a staggering $12.4 billion by the close of 2023, reflecting the explosive growth in demand for migrant shelters under new immigration policies. During Trump’s final year in office, his administration brought the monthly average of unaccompanied minors crossing the border down to record lows of 2,770, totaling around 33,239. However, in Biden and Harris's first year, this figure surged by 342%, with the monthly average spiking to 12,224—an annual total of approximately 147,000. Over 547,000 unaccompanied minors have since been processed, reflecting the drastic impact of the administration’s immigration policies on shelter demand and resources. Clearly, the surge in unaccompanied minors has directly boosted Kelly’s investment in border facilities—an arrangement that stands to collapse if Trump returns to office and curtails the inflow that has underpinned this booming industry-orphaned, trafficked children! Consider the sickness behind using character assassination as a political weapon, where truth and integrity are abandoned for political gain. Targeting an opponent who has pledged to end child trafficking and tighten border security exposes a desperate attempt to protect an increasingly profitable industry of government contracts. But at the heart of this struggle is the reality that, under strong border policy, both child trafficking and the exploitation of taxpayer-funded contracts would face a swift end.
