friend,
One year ago on October 25, a shooter, using an assault-style weapon, killed 18 people and injured 23 others at a bowling alley in Lewiston, Maine. It was the deadliest shooting of 2023.
This isn’t normal. We don’t deserve to live in a nation where people are gunned down in bowling alleys, grocery stores, and schools. We deserve to live in a nation where our lawmakers prioritize our public safety and take action to prevent senseless gun violence.
In the aftermath of this devastation, Brady, along with our incredible partners and volunteers, fought to pass new laws that would prevent tragedies like these before they happen. We drove hundreds of messages to lawmakers and it paid off. This April, we celebrated the passage of sweeping gun safety legislation in Maine that included updating the state’s yellow flag law and improving background checks.
But there is still more to do. We must pass a federal ban on assault weapons so tragedies like this never happen again.
Over and over again, assault weapons are used in massacres. From Highland Park, Uvalde, Buffalo, Parkland, Lewiston, and now most recently in Apalachee, GA, these weapons of war are designed to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. In fact, in shootings where assault weapons or large-capacity magazines are used, 155 percent more people are shot, and 47 percent more people are killed.
Enough is enough.
Will you [[link removed]] take a moment to honor those lost in Lewiston, Maine, by taking action? Urge Congress to ban assault weapons once and for all. [[link removed]] [[link removed]]

Take Action to End Gun Violence Event Recap
[link removed] [[link removed]]
On October 17, Brady held our third-annual Take Action To End Gun Violence event with Golden State Warriors Coach Steve Kerr. The event brought together individuals in the tech, healthcare, insurance, and entertainment industries and supporters of Brady to explore the pathways to ending gun violence.
The event was co-chaired by Coach Kerr and DoorDash CEO Tony Xu, and we heard moving stories about the impact of gun violence and how we can end this epidemic.
Brady Board Chair and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Joseph Sakran, opened up our program by delivering powerful remarks about his experience as a trauma surgeon and gun violence survivor. Tony Xu, spoke about his children growing up in an environment where active shooter drills are regular occurrences. And award-winning actor Daveed Diggs shared his perspective on gun violence growing up in Oakland and how we can use art to showcase gun safety.
