James,
Abortion bans are dangerous. The stories of women denied life-saving care, forced to travel across state lines for basic care, and having to carry non-viable pregnancies to term are just the tip of the iceberg.
Abortion bans aren’t just affecting abortion care, but the whole slate of reproductive care.
IVF and fertility treatments are under fire in states with the most extreme laws.
In states with bans, OB/GYN residents have had to leave the state to receive training for life-saving abortion procedures. If you can believe it, they are forced to practice how to save a woman’s life on papayas.
Research from Texas shows that 1 in 5 OB/GYNs have considered leaving the state because of the abortion laws. A chilling statistic when you consider there are already massive shortages of OB/GYNs across the country.
Doctors shouldn’t fear legal action for doing their jobs. They shouldn’t have to travel across state lines to receive basic medical training.
We can’t let the government determine what healthcare women have access to. It shouldn’t matter if you are in Texas, New York, or Illinois. Everyone deserves quality healthcare.
That’s what is at stake this November, not just abortion, but the right to quality healthcare, the right to control our bodies, and the freedom from government interference.
If you haven’t already, take this opportunity to sign up for a volunteer shift with pro-choice campaigns and organizations across the country. [[link removed]]
Together, we can restore reproductive healthcare across the country.
