A Western Victory Plan for Ukraine - Foreign Policy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky traveled to Western capitals
this month to drum up support for his “victory plan.” The plan’s
central planks, which Zelensky outlined to Ukraine’s parliament last
week, are simple. Ukraine’s allies should formally invite it to join
NATO and provide more weapons to push back the Russian assault. Only
then will Russian President Vladimir Putin come to the negotiating
table.

Meanwhile, Putin is following his own victory plan. With his forces
suffering their highest casualty rates of the war in September, he
recently ordered the conscription of 133,000 new servicemembers in the
autumn draft starting Oct. 1 and announced a 25 percent increase in
defense spending, which will account for a staggering total of 32
percent of the Russia’s 2025 federal budget.

Why No Real Antiwar Movement Has Developed in Israel - The New Yorker
[[link removed]}&lead=419599&emailid=84077&nl=daily]
Last week, Israeli forces killed Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas,
and the man who orchestrated the October 7th attacks, in which Hamas
fighters killed some twelve hundred Israelis. President Biden
responded to the news of Sinwars demise by expressing hope that the
realization of this particular Israeli war aim would lead to a durable
ceasefire in Gaza, where more than forty-two thousand Palestinians
have been killed. But Israels Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has
given no sign that he will allow the war to end, despite the
humanitarian toll; Israel is also engaged in an invasion of Lebanon,
where its forces are battling Hezbollah.

Do Israels assassinations work? - The Economist
[[link removed]}&lead=419599&emailid=84077&nl=daily]
It has become almost an article of faith: assassinations dont matter.
For more than a year Israel has been killing leaders of Hamas, a
Palestinian Islamist group, and Hizbullah, a Lebanese Shia militia.
Each time it does, a chorus of officials and analysts insist that
Hamas and Hizbullah will simply regroup and regain their previous
strength. Maybe so: Israels history offers ample reason for such
scepticism. But there is also good reason to believe that this time
may be different.

exactly sure what answers I expected, but I would not have been
shocked to hear about partnering with TikTok influencers, plowing

newsletters. And some of those tactics certainly came up. But to my
surprise, the most common answer was decidedly nondigital: the classic
word-of-mouth referral.

Election 2024 live updates: Charlamagne tha God slams CNN Trump
coverage
[[link removed]}&lead=419599&emailid=84077&nl=daily]
Radio personality Charlamagne tha God and CNN's Anderson Cooper had a
verbal sparring match about the network's portrayal of Vice President
Kamala Harris in comparison to former President Donald Trump. On
Thursday, Charlamagne, a Harris supporter, asked why networks,
including CNN, refused to cover Trump as a "fascist" while prominently
covering the former president's remarks regarding Harris's race. "I
feel like I heard more on this network about, 'Is Kamala Harris
Black?' than I do about Donald Trump being a fascist," Charlamagne
said, garnering "Honestly, that's bulls. I'm sorry" from Cooper. "I
think no network has honest conversations about Donald Trump. Nobody
has had honest conversations about Donald Trump since 2016,"
Charlamagne said. "It's always a double standard with Trump, whether
it's with Hillary, against Biden, now with Kamala, talk about him
being a threat to Democracy. We don't treat him like one."

Its easy to get angry when youre constantly picking up the slack or

demand they stop ignoring standards. Ordering them to fall in line
rarely works. Here are five strategies for how to address the issue
