Tonight, with just 11 days left until Election Day, Kamala Harris is making an unprecedented campaign stop in Houston, Texas to draw attention to the state's abortion ban — one of the most draconian in the country.
Texas is ground zero for extreme abortion bans. Back in 2021, even before Roe v. Wade was overturned, Republican legislators in Texas passed a law that banned abortion after six weeks, and the state's Republican governor signed it into law. In 2023, the Republican-majority Texas Supreme Court ruled that Kate Cox, a pregnant woman whose life was at risk, could not receive an emergency abortion.
EMILYs List stands with Kamala Harris in sending this message loud and clear, John: Too many Republican-controlled states have already followed Texas' lead. And if Republican extremists win on Nov. 5, the entire country could look like Texas when it comes to abortion rights. A Republican-controlled Congress will pass a national abortion ban. Donald Trump, if elected president, will sign it into law. We can't let that happen.
