Dear friends and partners,
The November election is less than two weeks away, and there are a number of important decisions for voters to make, including on the local level. This week, the LAUSD Board voted to endorse three measures that will modernize schools and mitigate the impacts of climate change in our communities. Learn more about one of them, Measure US, here—and no matter how you vote, I encourage you to make a plan and make your voice heard!
At the same meeting, we discussed how the District is closing the achievement gap—with LAUSD seeing the largest increase from 2022 to 2023 on the Smarter Balanced Assessment test in comparison with other districts across the state, and seeing gains across almost every sub-group. I also celebrated “Lights on Afterschool” Week to recognize the importance of enrichment, joy, and social-emotional learning as part of our students’ holistic education.
From the classroom, to the playground, and beyond, our work continues to ensure every child in Los Angeles has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and reach their full potential.
Go Dodgers!
