You deserve more than just a relentless stream of fundraising emails without a hint of substance, so I wanted to take a moment to send a message with a deeper look at the state of play here in Michigan with the hopes that treating you as more than just an ATM machine inspires you to donate to my campaign today. Okay, here goes:

When you start with the presidential race, one thing you can see over the past month is that things are tightening.

I am a bit of a numbers person, and from time to time I'll look at polling averages from people like Nate Silver (who’s actually a Michigander, by the way). And in his analysis you can see that the change over the past month, and the past week has been in Trump's favor.

You can see that tightening is represented visually here as well.

Who's ahead in the Michigan poll

This is important for a number of reasons, not the least of which is something that you instinctively know — which is whoever wins Michigan is likely to win the presidential election.

What about our race?

Public polling shows it's getting closer as well. If you look at the latest polls, two of the last three show our race a tie, with three polls this month showing that same result.

You can also see that in the Real Clear Politics polling averages. It's just gotten tighter over the past few weeks.

So what does that mean for your support?

First, you know that we like to talk about our success with "losing better." That means doing better in the "red" parts of my district and the state than Democrats normally do.

One of the ways we do that is by turning out Democrats who don't always vote. That's good for me, of course – but it is also good for Kamala Harris.

But that work takes resources, and it means we are fundraising up right through the time the last ballot is cast.

So if you are looking for a place where your donation goes further than almost anywhere else right now, I hope this message has convinced you why my race is a good place to win.

Please make a contribution to my campaign today. Our average online donation is around $40. Many give less. Some give more. All that matters is that lots and lots of people are contributing today to help us reach our final budget goals.

Thank you,

Elissa
