Seattle DSA 2024 Mini Socialist Voters Guide!

SDSA has recommendations for the 2024 election cycle! Our Mini Guide is a mix of officially endorsed positions, and suggestions rooted in growing the broader progressive left movement.

This includes voting for Chapter endorsed candidate Shaun Scott for the 43rd Legislative District against a pro-big business, pro-landlord, Republican funded opponent. SDSA is in favor of renewing the Proposition 1 Transportation Levy in the City of Seattle to ensure improvements to residents’ quality of life through investments in local public transit, pedestrian infrastructure modernization, and pollution reduction. Vote YES for Shaun Scott and Prop 1!

SDSA is also opposed to all four of the statewide ballot initiatives spearheaded by astroturf groups like Let’s Go Washington and the multimillionaire donors they represent. These thinly veiled attempts to roll back environmental regulations and taxes for the rich will hurt workers across Washington State while setting a dangerous precedent if they pass. Billionaire propaganda has no place in our democracy. Vote NO on I-2066, I-2109, I-2117, and I-2124!

The election is only 11 days away. Make sure to get those ballots in before the deadline at a drop box near you!

Boeing Machinists Reject Latest TA, Fight On for a Strong Contract!

Today’s strike update comes from Ky, a Boeing machinist with IAM 751 and a member of Seattle DSA:

Boeing machinists with International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 751 went on strike September 13th after voting overwhelmingly to reject the Tentative Agreement. On Wednesday, October 23rd, members of IAM 751 rejected the company’s latest offer by 64%. The rank and file union membership are still holding strong against Boeing’s intimidation tactics, and workers everywhere are standing with us.

  • What we want is not unreasonable. After 16 years of stagnant wages, We demand a fair wage increase so members can afford to live in the cities they work in. It is unacceptable that some members are forced to live out of their cars!
  • We demand to have fair medical coverage to ensure our members can receive the care they need after years of physical labor and exposure to toxic chemicals.
  • Most importantly, we demand to have our pensions fully reinstated. Our members deserve to retire! To have that stolen and stripped away from us with nothing to replace it is an injustice that can never be forgiven.

Seattle DSA will be holding events this Saturday from 4pm-8pm in Seattle and Renton to support Boeing machinists on the picket lines. Our fight is not unique. By showing solidarity with fellow workers in the class struggle, socialists not only help us to win a better contract but they demonstrate what labor is capable of when workers organize and fight together.

An injury to one, is an injury to all!

Sign up for more information about future Boeing picketing and donate to the IAM strike hardship fund.
