The 2024 federal election cycle is poised to be the most expensive we’ve ever seen, according to OpenSecrets.

Not only is outside spending outpacing previous election cycles, but it’s favoring Republicans. The five biggest mega donors are all supporting GOP candidates. And that’s just what we can track — it doesn’t include untraceable dark money spending.

Billionaires are spending more and more money to try to handpick elected officials, warping our democracy and drowning out the voices of regular people. Americans sense that something in their government is broken, and they’re right. They see Republicans in Congress shift power away from regular people and toward the secretive, wealthy interests that propped up their campaigns.

This isn’t how democracy is supposed to work.

Billionaires should not be able to spend unlimited money in elections and capture the levers of government for their own benefit. I’m working hard to change that.
