CNHED's Silver Jubilee 25th Anniversary Gala
I’m thrilled to share that on Tuesday, October 22nd, I was invited to speak at the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development's Silver Jubilee 25th Anniversary Gala. It was a wonderful evening dedicated to celebrating the incredible work that CNHED has accomplished over the past quarter-century in our Washington, DC communities.
As the Chair of the Committee on Business and Economic Development, I truly value the role that nonprofits play in shaping our city’s economic landscape. At the gala, I had the opportunity to reflect on how these organizations have been pivotal in advancing affordable housing and fostering economic growth for our residents.
It was inspiring to be surrounded by leaders, advocates, and changemakers who have dedicated themselves to improving our community. Their passion and commitment highlight the importance of collaboration in addressing the challenges we face and enhancing the quality of life for all our residents.
Looking forward, I am excited about the ongoing partnerships between our office and these vital organizations. Together, we can continue to drive positive change and create a more equitable future for Washington, DC.
DC Walk For Justice 5K
Yesterday, October 24, Team McDuffie joined the DC Bar Foundation for their Inaugural DC Walk for Justice 5K. This meaningful event raised funds to support transformative access to justice work throughout the District.
Earlier this year, I allocated an additional $500,000 for access to justice programs in the FY25 budget, reinforcing our commitment to ensuring that all residents have the legal resources they need.
Rosedale Recreation Center Event
This week, Team McDuffie joined forces with law enforcement and community partners at a fun youth event! Along with these partners, members of my team provided backpacks and food for the kids, making the day enjoyable and impactful.
The event took place at the Rosedale Recreation Center, where we were able to offer much-needed resources to the surrounding community. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage with families and ensure that our youth have the supplies they need to succeed.
Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this important event. Together, we are making a difference!
OPC Youth Environmental Justice and Advocacy Workshop
This week, Team McDuffie presented at OPC's Youth Advocacy Workshop, which aimed at high school students. This workshop focused on how government works, the importance of their voices, and how to address issues in their communities.
The event was held at OPC's office, located at 655 15th Street NW, on October 23rd and 24th. It was a fantastic opportunity for our youth to engage, learn, and become advocates for change in their neighborhoods.
