* LINCOLN, NE* – Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced his appointment of Justice Jeffrey J. Funke as chief justice to the Nebraska Supreme Court. Funke has served on the Supreme Court since he was appointed an associate justice in 2016. He will move to the role of chief justice on Nov. 1, following the official retirement of Chief Justice Mike Heavican on Oct. 31.
