Letter from the Mayor

Dear Washingtonians, 

*Reminder: Election Day in DC is right now.* Ballots are in mailboxes and votes are being cast. If you haven't voted yet, use this weekend to make your voting plan. 

*Early Vote Centers open on Monday!*


* Early Vote Centers will be open from *Monday, October 28 through Sunday, November 3*, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
* Voters can vote at any Early Vote Center. 

*General Election Day Vote Centers will be open on Tuesday, November 5.*


* 75 Vote Centers will be open from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
* Voters may vote at any of the Election Day Vote Centers.

*Happening Now: Ballot Drop Boxes*


* If you are voting with the ballot you received in the mail, you can drop it off in a 24-hour drop-box by November 5; send it by USPS mail, postmarked by November 5; or take it to an Early Vote Center or an Election Day Vote Center. 

Your vote matters, so consider your options and your schedule and make a plan. Get more information and find a voting center [ [link removed] ] at the Board of Elections' website: dcboe.org [ [link removed] ].

Of course, as the seat of the federal government, Washington, DC plays a special role in the upcoming election events. And our District agencies have been planning, preparing, and working with our partners for months to prepare for the upcoming election and 60th Presidential Inauguration.

Leaf Collection Begins on Monday in Section A

It’s that time of year again—time to clear your yards and help keep our streets clean as the leaves start to fall. *DPW’s annual Leaf Collection kicks off in Section A on Monday, October 28*.

Already received a door hanger? That means you are in Section A, so be sure to rake your leaves to the treebox or curb by this Sunday, October 27.

Haven't yet received a door hanger? That means you are outside of Section A. To give residents time to rake your leaves, DPW will give 10 days' notice ahead of collection. Updates will be made on Fridays and will be posted at:

Saturday: Prescription Drug Take Back Day
Take Back Day

Residents are encouraged to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 26.

On Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the District will host drop-off sites across the city where residents can safely dispose of unwanted, unneeded, or expired prescription medications, helping to reduce the risk of misuse and protect the community.

If you or someone you know is at risk of an opioid overdose, DBH urges you to get and keep naloxone, a lifesaving medication. Hundreds and hundreds of suspected opioid overdoses have been reversed using naloxone, often by community members. Text “LiveLongDC” to 888-811 to get a free naloxone kit by mail, delivery, or at pickup locations across the District.

Get ready for a fang-tastic Halloween season with DPR, MPD, and ONSE as they host fun-filled, family-friendly events across the District! From monster tennis matches to spook-tacular costume parties and haunted houses, there’s something for everyone. 

As you head out on Halloween, let's work together to keep our kids safe. *Drivers, slow down and watch out for trick-or-treaters.* And parents and guardians, keep a close eye on your trick-or-treaters.
