Help provide dogs with lifesaving shelter.

Dear Friend,

As temperatures soared in the 90s, this miserable, frightened dog languished in the sun in the middle of a barren field—unable to reach water or shade because of the heavy chain around his neck.

Fearful that his heavy breathing could be a sign of heatstroke, a concerned neighbor made numerous calls to local authorities, who never showed up to help. By the time PETA fieldworkers were contacted, it was too late—he was found dead, a victim of the fatal combination of neglect and extreme temperatures.

No dog should be forced to live outside, struggling to survive the lethal heat and violent summer storms. That's why PETA fieldworkers are providing vital shelter, fresh water, and more to keep tragedies like this from happening again.

Weeks of extreme heat are still expected this summer. Many "backyard dogs" can't even find shade from the sun, let alone go indoors to cool down in the air conditioning. In the regions where PETA operates, our team is often the only help—the only hope—for these dogs. And we need your support to reach them.
