KEY HOUSE ELECTION ALERT: A crucial toss-up special election in California
next week could hand the Republicans a key House seat and put Trump one
step closer to taking back the House of Representatives.

This is one of the key districts we helped flip in 2018, and we can win
again. (Because of the pandemic, this is an exclusively vote-by-mail
election.)

But there’s one big problem: With COVID-19 dominating the news, a lot of
voters have no idea this election is even happening -- especially young
people. And that gives Republicans a huge advantage.

Courage California is launching a text-message campaign to share our voter
guide to make sure that voters know about this key race and mail in their
ballots before the day of the election.

Even Republicans admit that when voter turnout is high, they lose. That’s
why they’ve spent decades doing everything they can to make it harder to
vote -- and that’s why they have a built-in advantage in a special
election that’s getting much less public attention than a close
congressional race usually would.(1)

In this race, every vote will matter.

California Congressional District 25 is one of the most evenly balanced
districts in the country. The district, which is north of Los Angeles,
voted for Mitt Romney in 2012. But Hillary Clinton narrowly won in 2016.

Then, in the blue wave of 2018, Democrat Katie Hill defeated the
Republican incumbent by a solid 7 points. However, Hill resigned last
year, forcing a special election in the middle of a pandemic.

If voter turnout now is what it was in 2018, Democrats would be pretty
much guaranteed to win. But that is just not going to happen in this off
year -- unless we fight to make sure it does.

Our online voter guide was incredibly effective with young voters in
March's primary election, and it’s an ideal tool to alert the voters who
are most likely to drop off in a special election.

Let’s be clear: If Republicans take back the House, Trump will have no
restrictions on his power whatsoever. And this is one of the key seats
they absolutely must win to take back the House.

Courage California helped lead the way toward flipping this seat to blue
in 2018, and with your help, we can keep it blue in next week’s special
