Dear john,

During this District Work Period, my team and I have been staying connected with residents of our district and continuing the work of serving you in Georgia. While Congress may not be in session, the work of the federal government does not stop, and there have been many announcements about federal funding and new investments in our community.

Here are a few updates from my office during the last few weeks:

Gwinnett County is set to receive $19 million over the next five years for safer, healthier schools! Thanks to the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the federal government is making needed investments in mental health initiatives to prepare mental health professionals to enter the workforce and hire them in our schools.

I was honored to welcome Department of Education Secretary Miguel Cardona back to Georgia as we visited Five Forks Middle School to announce these investments and speak with teachers, counselors, and students about how this funding will impact our school district.

Screenshot from a post on X, formerly Twitter, from @RepLucyMcBath which reads "Wonderful to have @SecCardona in Georgia to announce new school mental health resources from the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. Our children are our future--we must keep them safe and help them live healthy, happy lives."

This month, it was my honor to address the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce during their monthly luncheon. At the start of this Congress, the Gwinnett Chamber was one of the first organizations I sat down with to understand their priorities and vision for the next few years. I am proud of how many of those priorities we have been able to support through the millions of dollars in federal grant awards and the constituent service events I have convened for members of our small business community. Small business is the backbone of our economy, and I continue to champion opportunities for Georgians who are working hard to grow their business and create a living for themselves and their families.
