This week we learned that New York should have its presidential primary after all. Upon hearing the injustice that New York’s presidential primary had been canceled last month, we put together a petition that over 2700 of you have signed. And it worked. Our voices were heard.
But there is still much to be figured out. Joe Biden, while the presumptive Democratic nominee, is hardly the groundbreaking, progressive leader this country needs. That’s why I put together a progressive agenda which the Democratic Party needs at the heart of our national platform. We know the highest priority is to get Trump out of office—and to do that we need to be a unified party—but the Democratic Party needs to take bold steps to ensure every American is represented.
I would be proud to represent NY-12 and work with my colleagues to ensure the people’s voices are heard. As the hopeful representative of the Democratic party, I know it is Congress’s responsibility to represent their constituents and hold the president accountable for executing and enforcing the laws they put forth.
On Saturday night I participated in a town hall with my fellow Brand New Congress slatemates, candidates Charles Booker (KY-43) and Paula Jean Swearengin (WV-D). All of us come from working class families and addressed the effect of COVID-19 on our communities. I really encourage you to watch the whole thing, but the last 20 minutes were especially moving.
Working Class Town Hall with BNC Appalachian Candidates
For many, including New Yorkers, the stay-at-home order has been extended into June. I know there were many in my community I didn’t get to meet face-to-face before my campaign went completely virtual in March, but I’m so grateful my volunteer team continues to orchestrate ways to meet the community. Will we see you this week?
Friday (5/15) 3pm EDT: Disability Rights Town Hall Fellow disability activists Marina Tsaplina, Michael Carbonaro, and Matthew Estep join me for a round-table conversation about disability rights and the various challenges—including access to medical care— that persons with disabilities must navigate during the current pandemic.

Even congressional candidates need to blow off some steam! Come join me on Twitch! I’ll be answering questions while I play Fortnite.
UPCOMING: Women’s Rights Town Hall with former NY-12 candidate Erica Vladimir—stay tuned for details!
See you (virtually) around!
Sincerely,
