From one campaign stop to another, friend — that's how we do it with only 11 days to go and polls tied in our campaign to defeat GOP Senator Rick Scott here in Florida!

As somebody who I know cares deeply about defeating radical extremists like Rick Scott and defending our Democratic Senate majority, I'd like to give you a better sense of who I am, the values I'm fighting for, and why I'm running — and I have a few minutes between campaign stops to do just that! I am a proud South American immigrant — the very first to serve in Congress, in fact. I left my home in Ecuador when I was just 14 along with my mom and sisters. I grew up under a dictatorship, and my Mom was determined to get our family to freedom and opportunity, where we could pursue our own version of the American dream.

It wasn't easy. My mom worked two jobs to support our family, and I worked minimum-wage jobs — like in a doughnut shop — to do my part as well. We worked hard and scraped by. It was often difficult, but we had each other and the love of family. It's why I relate to the hardworking families all across the United States.

My own upbringing has inspired me to build a career in public service fighting to expand opportunities for every single American, from making health care affordable to advocating for gun violence prevention and reproductive freedom.

That drive to do good for others — to help every Floridian have equal opportunity to create their own American dream — is what has moved me to run for U.S. Senate. And with just 11 days left in this campaign, we are on the cusp of pulling off one of the greatest political upsets in history and defeating Rick Scott!

But with the polls tied, $37 million in ads being spent against me, and Rick Scott leaning on his own personal fortune to defeat me, I need a surge of grassroots support unlike ever before.
