Trust for Public Land, you have a good idea of what our work entails.
After all, you make it possible. I'd like to take a minute to
talk about a specific area you've helped change.

The White Mountains of New Hampshire are among the best loved
natural treasures in the Northeast. Less than a day's drive from
Boston, New York City, and other Northeastern cities, they draw more
than 6 million visitors each year.

The region's signature attraction is the White Mountain National
Forest. Over the years, The Trust for Public Land and our partners
have conserved more 15,000 acres of land in the White Mountain
National Forest.

That's an impressive figure, and one I hope you're
proud to see. But we're not stopping there. Our goal for the
next five years is to protect 1 million acres, from New Hampshire to
Hawaii and back again. It won't be easy. But with the help of
our dedicated members and supporters, we can make it happen.

The land we've preserved in the White Mountain National
Forest contains 24 miles of trails. Our five-year goal is to build
1,000 miles of trails in parks, forests, and wilderness areas across
the country.

This is one of the main reasons we exist: to preserve land for
people to use and enjoy. It is surely also one of the main reasons you
joined our community of public land advocates. To reach these goals,
we need your help. I'm asking you to make a special gift of $35
or whatever you can afford to The Trust for Public Land's work.
It's tax-deductible, and it will be doubled as soon as
it's received.
