Hi John,
Did you know that the average mayor of a major city in the U.S. is 58 years old?
Despite the median age of Americans being 38, the majority of our elected officials are much older. America’s government is run as a gerontocracy, and young people are wildly underrepresented.
As a result, policies enacted by our leaders often fail to address the concerns of millennials and Gen Z, the most diverse generations in American history. We can change this, but we need your help. Run for Something is supporting hundreds of local candidates under the age of 40 who are on the ballot this November. We are working around the clock to support their campaigns, and what these candidates need most right now is volunteers like you.
Will you sign up now to phone bank for three of our highest priority candidates? These candidates are running in highly competitive elections, and each conversation you have with voters can make the difference.
By supporting young candidates in local races, we are building the bench for younger, more progressive leadership at the federal level. We need to do everything we can between now and election day to get these candidates over the finish line.
By joining our phone banks, you are driving the change we need to end the gerontocracy and empower a new generation of leaders.
We’ve partnered with Sister District to make calls together every week, Tuesday through Friday, for candidates in must-win state legislature races in key swing states.
- Tuesdays at 12 PM ET for Anna Thomas for Pennsylvania State House
- Wednesdays at 4 PM ET and Thursdays at 6 PM ET for Dante Pittman for North Carolina State House
- Fridays at 4 PM ET for Jaime Churches for Michigan State House
Click here to sign up to phone bank for any of the above candidates between now and election day!
Each of these phone banks are staffed by organizers who will give you all the training and support you need. We promise you'll leave the phone bank feeling energized and fulfilled knowing that you are doing the critical work of bringing more people into the democratic process.
Thank you for stepping up to help build a more reflective democracy!
