[1]U.S. Senator Chris Murphy

I just got back from a campaign swing through Pennsylvania, and I want to tell you what I saw on the ground.

Kamala Harris and Bob Casey asked me to come because it is an all-hands-on-deck effort in this state. Every campaign is treating Pennsylvania like it will be the tipping point state, and like I’ve said all cycle, I am prepared to do everything I can to help my friends and colleagues win.

If you are all in as well, please consider splitting a donation between Bob Casey’s campaign and my re-election to defend our Senate majority.

I started the day with a group of Moms Demand volunteers talking about our movement to end gun violence. We talked about the progress we’ve made these past four years — including the historic Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. But we also talked about the important work ahead — like passing an assault weapons ban and universal background checks.

They told me that they hear every day on the phones and at the doors just how many parents are worried about the epidemic of gun violence in America. It’s unacceptable, and it’s a good reminder that our ideas are popular not just with Democrats but a majority of independents and Republicans too. Ending gun violence is a winning issue for campaigns.

I swung by a senior center to stump for Ashley Ehasz — a Democrat running in a red-to-blue House district. So much of our progress in Congress has been stalled these past two years, and we cannot afford to lose the House again.

The rest of the day was filled with one of my favorite parts of campaigning — meeting the volunteers on the frontlines of our organizing efforts.

The field operation in Pennsylvania is massive, and it’s volunteers like the ones I met who will make the difference in a race as close as this one. This state is likely to be decided by 1% and that means every single conversation we can have to persuade or turn out a new Democratic voter will matter.

Republicans and their super PACs are spending an unprecedented amount of money in this state, and we have to make sure Democrats have the resources to match. The best way to do that is to make sure Bob Casey’s campaign has the resources it needs because nobody knows Pennsylvania and what it takes to win the state better than him.

So please, if you can, split a contribution of any amount between Bob Casey’s campaign and my re-election. We cannot get drowned out by dark money in Pennsylvania.

11 days to go. Let’s leave it all on the field.

Every best wish,

Chris Murphy
