We hope you had a great week. It’s always a good week when it’s a town hall week. Thank you to everyone who joined Congressman Kim’s 80th town hall since he first came to Congress. There were a lot of important issues on people’s minds to discuss and updates from this week to share that we’re glad to be able to share here too!

Congressman Kim Highlights Youth Mental Health and Bullying Awareness Month at 80th Town Hall

On Wednesday, Congressman Kim hosted his 80th town hall, highlighting National Bullying Awareness Month and his continued work to address youth mental health needs. During the town hall, the Congressman was also joined by Jessica Smedley, LPC and Director of Counseling for West Windsor/Plainsboro Regional School District, who spoke about the role of school counselors to provide proactive mental health and academic support, collective efforts to prevent violence and bullying in schools, and resources available to students and families.

To address the nationwide shortage of mental healthcare resources and workers, the Congressman has voted to pass the largest gun violence prevention legislative package in 30 years that secured investment in programs to expand mental health and support services in schools as well as secured $1,000,000 to construct a new behavioral health clinic to serve children in Burlington County. He is fighting to build off his work with his “kids agenda” to combat child poverty with the Child Tax Credit, expand students’ access to nutritious meals, and deliver support to vulnerable communities, including direct support for LGBTQ+ youth.

An Up Close Look with NJ Transit and Amtrak

Fixing and strengthening public transit in New Jersey must be a top priority to help families struggling with affordability and reliability. This week, Congressman Kim joined colleagues from New Jersey’s congressional delegation for a tour along the Northeast Corridor with NJ Transit and Amtrak leadership. He was able to see successful progress of the Gateway Tunnel Project up close, as well as the ongoing and critical need for this work to continue. He urged leadership about the importance of continued upgrades and investigations to deliver the safe and reliable public transit New Jersey deserves.

Congressman Kim will continue working for continued investments in our public transit so New Jerseyans can get to work and get home safely and on time.

Infrastructure Improvements Continue

On Wednesday, the United States Environmental Protection Agency announced that New Jersey is slated to get more than $168 million for drinking water and wastewater improvements from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Congressman Kim is proud to continue bringing federal funding back to our state and to make critical upgrades to drinking water and wastewater infrastructure in communities where it's needed most. These historic investments are essential to look out for the long-term health and well-being of people across our state.

Speaking with Small Businesses

The Congressman joined the first ever Small Business Summit at Montclair State University this week. Congressman Kim is proud to work to have entrepreneurs’ backs in Congress and to support initiatives like this that connect businesses to resources, tools, and to engage with each other as a community. We want businesses to not just survive in our local communities, but thrive and listening and addressing the unique needs of our diverse business community is essential to that work.

National Head Start Awareness Month

Head Start uplifts children’s dreams and futures, unlocking opportunities for families across our communities. We will keep working to protect these programs and secure federal funding to expand its reach and support.

Medicare Open Enrollment is OPEN

From now through December 7th, you can head to medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE to look over coverage and compare options to make sure you have a plan that’s right for you.

Through the Inflation Reduction Act, Congressman Kim is proud to have helped cap insulin costs at $35/month for seniors on Medicare and deliver critical savings on their prescription drug costs.
