About the job
As the Managing Director of the State Building Code Council (SBCC), you will oversee the SBCC staff and manage daily operations related to building code adoption in Washington state. Your key responsibilities will include the development, amendment, and adoption of state building codes as approved by the SBCC. You will ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and SBCC by-laws while developing state and national amendments to building codes. Additionally, you will represent the SBCC at national building code development hearings and provide executive support at SBCC meetings and related gatherings. You will assist SBCC members in understanding the codes and their duties under state law, as well as their rights and responsibilities as defined by council policies and procedures. Support will also extend to technical advisory group members in understanding their roles within the overall process. Furthermore, you will provide technical support to building and fire code officials, industry groups, and the public to ensure compliance with the Administrative Procedures Act and the Regulatory Fairness Act.
