John — it’s Eugene Vindman. I made the toughest decision I’ve had to yet this week and need to share it with you.
Earlier this week, two dark-money GOP super PACs dumped an additional $2 million on TV attack ads into this race to try and defeat our pro-democracy movement. They’re trying to drown us out on air.
My team and I came together to determine our response strategy, and our best option was to urgently expand our advertising and voter outreach efforts to compete with that air time and get undecided voters on our side before Election Day.
That means expanding our TV ad buys and putting more organizers on the ground. Those are pretty steep expenses, John. But with 11 days until Election Day, I gave my team the clear.
It wasn’t an easy decision because the money wasn’t immediately in the budget, but I approved the expense because it’s what we need to do to win — and because I bet on this team, knowing you will help us fill the budget gap. That’s how much faith I have in this team and our pro-democracy movement.
I know for a fact that we have two advantages in this race: our commitment to defending our democracy — and you.
So, on the heels of my difficult budget decision, I’m asking:
