Every taxpayer should get to vote in the elections they fund.

John --

Earlier this week, we sent you a list of 9 ballot measures up for vote this cycle.

Today, we're highlighting round two of this year's most important ballot measures!

The measures listed below span multiple states, initiatives, and parts of our system they're trying to amend.

This Year's Critical Ballot Initiatives, Round Two

Statewide Initiatives

  • Arizona - Proposition 140 would open the state's primaries, ensure that all candidates have the same signature requirements, and change funding rules to ensure that taxpayer dollars are only spent on elections that everyone can vote in.
  • South Dakota - Amendment H would establish top-two open primaries in the state.
  • Montana - Ballot Issue 12 will create a top-four, open primary election in the state, with party designation being optional next to a candidate's name. The state is also offering Ballot Issue 13, which would require candidates to receive a majority of the votes cast to win elections, likely resulting in something close to RCV being implemented.

And, another one that any reform-minded individual should be looking to defeat:

  • Missouri - Amendment 7 would BAN RCV in the state. Proponents have included it in an initiative where the first part would exclude noncitizens from voting (something that's already illegal), tagging on an RCV ban to the end of the bill to try to sneak that through.

If these initiatives weren't enough to get you fired up, we've got even more for you. On Monday night, Forward Party Co-Founder Andrew Yang joined John Opdycke, founder of Open Primaries, for the single largest virtual rally in support of open primaries ever!

The creation of a better government is within our grasp. We just need to go out and make it happen.

With Thanks,
