Dear Friends,
Happy Friday! This week, my office successfully hosted two hiring events in Danville and South Holland for job seekers. I'm committed to making Illinois a leader in job growth, and I'm proud to help connect folks to new career opportunities.
Thank You, Albert, for Your Service
Albert Pate is a Navy Veteran who served in the Vietnam War, but he never received his medal due to outdated discharge papers. When he reached out to my office for help, we discovered he actually earned four medals. I surprised Albert with his medals that honor his exemplary service. Almost 50 years later, his time with the Navy is properly awarded and recognized.
Stand in Our Truth
I was inspired last week while visiting the statue of abolitionist Sojourner Truth at the site where she famously delivered her "Ain't I a Woman" speech. It was the perfect culmination to my friend and colleague Representative Emilia Sykes' first Women in Leadership Conference, where I talked about policy that impacts Black women.
Together, we can push for better and more equal opportunities for all.
If you would like to share your thoughts with me, feel free to visit my website. You can also keep in touch through Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).
Sincerely,
Robin L. Kelly Member of Congress
