Good Morning Indian River County!
It's a bit unsteady out there as our lives start to search for the new normal. Florida and large swaths of America are in the very early stages of re-opening. How will it work out? Time will tell....
Of course, in our world of politics, everyone is trying to make hay, point fingers, and blame the other guy. One of the biggest Democrat talking points being circulated is that the $2+ trillion in relief programs signed into law by President Trump has no oversight and is a government giveaway. RPOF Chairman Joe Gruters rebutted this talking point beautifully in a Miami Herald Op-Ed piece last Thursday, which can be found here. These accusations, coupled with the demands by Democrat Governors that the federal government and its taxpayers bail out decades of failed state policies, are the sharp edge of today's political divide. Federal relief to the states was designed to pay for pandemic expenses, not ongoing failing policies and built-up debt, including debt caused by promises to public employee unions.
And locally...
we expect political meetings to begin next month, but have no confirmation of that yet. Stay tuned...
